Filtered air. Air entering the laboratory passes through HEPA filters that remove fine dust particles and microorganisms. Fresh, filtered air is circulated continuously so that the air quality stays consistent.
The Class 10,000 Modular Closed Working Lab offers a carefully controlled environment in which eggs, sperm, and embryos can be handled during IVF treatment.
The laboratory is constructed so as to keep under control key environmental factors such as air quality, temperature, humidity and cleanliness, thereby reducing the embryos' exposure to external contaminants. As a result, a stable environment is obtained which is appropriate for carrying out sensitive embryology procedures and for embryo culture.
The modular IVF laboratory at Neelkanth IVF carries out a number of procedures such as sperm preparation, fertilisation, ICSI, embryo culture and embryo assessment all under supervised conditions. The controlled laboratory environment combines with specialized equipment, quality-control protocols and the knowledge of the trained embryologists.
Class 10,000 is a cleanroom rating that limits the number of airborne particles in the laboratory air. It means that a cubic foot of air can contain no more than 10,000 particles of 0.5 micron size or larger (roughly equivalent to ISO Class 7). This is far cleaner than normal hospital or office air, and it helps protect eggs, sperm and embryos, which are very sensitive to dust, microbes and chemical vapours.
Filtered air. Air entering the laboratory passes through HEPA filters that remove fine dust particles and microorganisms. Fresh, filtered air is circulated continuously so that the air quality stays consistent.
Positive air pressure. The lab is generally kept at a slightly higher pressure than the surrounding areas, so that unfiltered air from outside does not flow in when doors are opened.
Temperature and humidity control. Stable temperature and humidity are maintained in the working area, so that eggs and embryos are not stressed by sudden changes while they are being handled outside the incubator.
Closed, modular construction. The modular design uses smooth, sealed surfaces that are easy to clean and disinfect, with limited entry points. This keeps the working area contained and reduces the places where dust and contaminants can collect.
Controlled access and hygiene. Entry is restricted to authorised laboratory staff, who follow gowning, hand hygiene and cleaning protocols before working in the lab.
Embryos are in culture for several days, and during this time they are sensitive to their surroundings. A cleaner and more stable environment helps lower the risk of contamination and reduces stress on the embryos during handling procedures such as ICSI and embryo assessment. The Class 10,000 lab works together with calibrated incubators, quality-controlled culture media and regular monitoring and maintenance, all of which support consistent laboratory performance.
