Polyps are growths that develop from the inner lining of the uterus, known as the endometrium. The overgrowth of endometrial cells can result in the formation of uterine polyps, also called endometrial polyps. While some polyps do not cause symptoms, others may lead to heavy menstrual bleeding or bleeding between menstrual cycles. In certain cases, endometrial polyps may affect fertility and can be associated with pregnancy loss. Depending on their size, symptoms, and medical evaluation, these polyps may be removed through a procedure known as hysteroscopic polyp resection.
