IVF in PCOS
PCO (Poly Cystic Ovary) patients fail to produce eggs. As there are multiple cysts in ovary which prevent release of eggs & so no fertilization.

In some cases, lifestyle management, weight loss, medication helps in treating patients. But if above all doesn’t work IVF is considered as most successful fertility treatment for PCOS in female.
PCO have sensitive ovaries. So we have to decide the dose of injections for follicle growth according to ultrasound, AMH (Anti Mullerian Hormone) & hormonal levels. There should be a meticulous control in dosage of hormonal injections for follicular growth by ultrasonography.
As there are high chances of OHSS (Ovarian Hyper Stimulation Syndrome) in PCO patients with large number of antral follicles.
Egg retrieval: We usually get good number of eggs, due to so many follicles with PCOS but the only problems , is quality of eggs is compromised because of large number of eggs.
We do “Frozen Embryo Transfer” in PCO. The reason behind is some patients get hyper stimulated because of multiple follicle. This leads to negative effect on endometrium which is not ready for implantation of embryo. Hence FET at a later date is done when hormonal levels have come down to normal.
