Polyps are growths arising from the inner wall of the uterus. The overgrowth of cells in the endometrium results in the formation of uterine polyps, which are also known as endometrial polyps. These polyps can lead to heavy bleeding during the menstrual cycle and even in between the cycles. Endometrial polyps can also cause infertility and abortions. These polyps can be removed surgically by a simple procedure known as Hysteroscopic polyp resection.
